Quik-Call II (QCII)

(Glossary)

HGDefinition.jpg

Quik-Call II (QCII) is a "Non-ASTRO" signaling protocol that is used by certain Conventional Systems, and therefore for certain Conventional - channels. QCII is a sequential tone protocol normally associated with portable radios and pagers where the decoding of specific tone sequences sent from a radio or dispatch center allows individual radios, or groups of radios, to receive messages (Pages or Selective Calls) intended only for them. This is a feature commonly used by rural fire departments.

Currently, only Quik-Call II Decode is supported by APX radios.

The "Quik-Call II" selection is made in the Conventional System - System Type field, and then the necessary tone sequences related to this QCII-capable Conventional System are configured on the Quik-Call II Page.

Conventional Systems are selected for Conventional Personalities from the Non-ASTRO System field.

When the Non-ASTRO System field selects a QCII Conventional System, the Non-ASTRO Signaling Type field must be set to "Quik-Call II".

A personality's Rx Voice/Signal Type field must be set to "Non-ASTRO" or "Mixed Mode".

DotYellow.png No matter if a personality's Rx Voice/Signal Type field is set to "Non-ASTRO" or "Mixed Mode", and no matter if the Tx Voice/Signal Type is set to "ASTRO", a QCII System must be selected in the Non-ASTRO System field.
